Assistants Course

The course will be given from July 21 – 31, 2008. It will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. daily, with an hour for lunch.

The fee is $825.00, of which $50.00 will be a deposit to hold a place. The course will run with a minimum of 15 people and a maximum of 30. To ensure a place in this course submit the registration form and deposit as soon as possible. Please note that applications will not be accepted after July 11th.

The intention of this course is to help interested adults become able assistants in a Montessori Casa dei Bambini. It is also to highlight the important work of the assistant as an aid to the child’s development. All are welcome.

Course work will consist of lectures, discussions, and submission of three written papers.  An AMI Children’s House Assistants Course Certificate will be issued, based upon 100% attendance.

The recommended books for the assistants’ course are:  The Child in the Family, Education for a New World, The Secret of Childhood, and The Absorbent Mind.  The author of these books is Dr. Maria Montessori.  The books may be purchased at selected bookstores, or at the Foundation for Montessori Education.
