History

Founded in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori and her son Mario M. Montessori, the A.M.I. is entrusted with ensuring that Maria Montessori’s educational guidelines and standards are upheld. A.M.I. is the pedagogical authority that directs and supervises A.M.I. training centres throughout the world. Also, by conducting international study conferences and congresses, A.M.I. fulfills its commitment to “propagate, maintain and further the rights of the child in society.”
